Mr. Perfectionist of the Indian Industry, AAMIR KHAN had a fantastic decade filled with memorable roles and he was almost on a record-breaking spree. He did just 7 Movies in the last 10 years and his movies collected 1334 Crores and the average comes to be 190 Crores, higher than any other actor. The average just indicates that his films destroyed the box-office left-right and center. Let's take a look at the Hits and the Misses -
THE HITS -
We have not taken 3 Idiots in our analysis but it crossed the 200 Crore Mark in 2010 and hence became the first film to do so. His first successful film of the decade was TAALASH, a suspense thriller. The movie had good performances and did well at the box-office. But since the movie was too urban appealing, it did just less than100 Crores at the box-office and was a HIT. He next starred in the most awaited sequel of a film at that time - DHOOM 3. The movie broke multiple records at the box-office and did extraordinary in the long run becoming an ALL-TIME BLOCKBUSTER.
In 2014, Aamir collaborated with Rajkumar Hirani for the second time in the social satire - PK. The movie crossed the 300 Crore Mark and became the first film to do so in India. The movie was received extremely well across the country and again became an ALL-TIME BLOCKBUSTER.
He next starred in DANGAL, another ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER. The movie did 387 Crores at the box-office and had not been Demonitisation, it would have crossed the 400 Crore Mark. This movie like all the movies mentioned above was received well and did exceedingly well at the box-office. Not only it did good in the Indian Market, but it also did humongous business overseas. Aamir opened the China Territory for the Indian Films as Dangal clocked more than 2000 Crores there.
His Next release was SECRET SUPERSTAR, in which he had a brief appearance did good business despite clashing with a biggie(Golmaal Again). The movie became a HIT here and did more than 600 Crores in China.
THE MISSES -
His first release of the decade was DHOBI GHAT. Though I won't call it a regular film as it wasn't promoted nor it had a proper release. It purely appealed to the upper-class audience but it still did BELOW-AVERAGE business at the box-office. I have seen the film and it is still like water. It can be watched once if you haven't seen this. His next failure and the only Failure in the last 10 years was THUGS OF HINDOSTAN. The movie had Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan together and was Aamir's second collaboration with Vijay Krishna Acharya. The movie had the capability to cross the 400 Crore Mark at the box-office but the story was mediocre and the execution with VFX was extremely poor. The movie was not that bad as it was said but the expectation from this film was sky high and since it underperformed, the flopped at the box-office.
NEXT RELEASE -
LAAL SINGH CHADDHA is his next release and is expected to hit the theatres in the month of December. The expectations are sky-high from this one as Aamir is looking extremely convincing in the posters.
It also expected that he will star in the Bollywood Remake of VIKRAM VEDHA with Saif Ali Khan.
